Satcom Direct

Satcom Direct
Satcom Direct is a privately held company founded in 1997, headquartered in Satellite Beach, Florida. The company provides global satellite communications to business aviation, military aviation - including Heads of State, NATO and DOD - general aviation, land mobile and maritime customers.

The company also provides land mobile and handheld satellite equipment to emergency response and media outlets as well as recreational users travelling to remote locations with limited cellular and data network coverage.

Satcom Direct pioneered 10-digit dialing service to aircraft in flight, known as their Global One Number service. This technology allows callers on the ground to reach any handset onboard an aircraft in flight by dialing a single telephone number no matter where the aircraft is located. Today, the company provides nose to tail value-add services to their aviation customers, including cockpit datalink service, accelerated high-speed data, real-time traffic monitoring, VoIP services, ATS position reporting and unified electronic billing. Training classes and technology seminars are available to customers who want to understand the Inmarsat and Iridium networks, hardware configuration, and troubleshooting techniques.

The company is a premier Inmarsat Distribution Partner, Iridium Service Partner and ViaSat’s preferred reseller, supporting more than ninety percent of all corporate flight departments. With a dedicated in-house software engineering team, the company is able to design new technologies. Testing is carried out onsite in the company's satcom lab using the same equipment installed on most business aviation aircraft. Satcom Direct continues to advance all available services from the flight deck to the cabin – making Satcom Direct the leader in aeronautical satcom service.

  • Aero X® Overview

    Aero X® Overview

Satcom Direct’s patented Aero X® solution delivers extreme speed for corporate jet travelers requiring a higher level of
in-flight aircraft Internet usage. AeroX puts the “speed” in high-speed data transmission. This patented service compresses data creating a more efficient use of bandwidth. That means business jet professionals can send and receive greater amounts of data in shorter amounts of time while in flight, thus using less time to complete business.

  • SkyShield Overview

    SkyShield Overview

SkyShield allows you to control your in-flight Internet usage by blocking unneeded processes that slow down your connection and increase your data costs.

SkyShield acts as a filter for certain software processes and applications that use large amounts of data, such as program or software updates that run in the background, streaming audio and video websites, and social media feeds. Using SkyShield frees up your in-flight data connection for what is most important to your mission.

Choose from four preconfigured filter options, or request a custom filter built by Satcom Direct.

There are four preconfigured filters to choose from:

    • Level 1:Software updates
    • Level 2:Audio and video
    • Level 3:Social media
    • Level 4:Cloud applications
    • Custom Filtersmay be built to your specifications
  • FlightDeck Freedom®(FDF)

    FlightDeck Freedom®(FDF)

Satcom Direct’s FlightDeck Freedom®(FDF) datalink service is fully compatible with all avionics and airframe manufacturers. FDF uses 21st century datalink technology that was specifically designed to support Business and Military aviation
    worldwide.

The FDF globally redundant datalink network provides pilots the assurance that critical data such as pre-departure clearances,
Digital ATIS, oceanic clearances, airport weather, graphical weather, Aircraft Performance Group (APG) calculations and flight plan routes are always received upon pilot request. FDF also enables pilots to monitor cabin communications to assure telephone and internet services are working for passengers/VIPs. Dispatchers and maintenance personnel can monitor the aircraft through automated takeoff and landing reports, email messages to/from the aircraft, and can see aircraft position at
any time with Satcom Direct’s exclusive SD Flight Tracker. FDF is simply the best solution for Business and Military Aviation.

  • Global One Number (GON) Overview

    Global One Number (GON) Overview

In 1997, Satcom Direct® pioneered the Global One Number® (GON) service - a technology that allows callers on the ground to reach any handset on an aircraft in-flight by dialing a single, 10-digit telephone number, no matter where the aircraft is located.

Today, Satcom Direct’s Global One Number® is well-known throughout the aviation industry and has expanded to include connectivity to multiple communication systems, including Iridium, Inmarsat and Yonder. Telephone numbers from more than
50 countries and 4,000 cities worldwide are now available to provide local dialing capabilities to aircraft around the world.

  • Satcom Direct's Flight Tracker

    Satcom Direct's Flight Tracker

Satcom Direct’s Flight Tracker has set the standard for global flight tracking. This state-of-the-art global mapping solution graphically displays precise fleet coordinates using data transmitted via Inmarsat, Iridium, Yonder®, SITA VHF as well as Satcom Direct’s FlightDeck Freedom® service.

You can also receive current aircraft location information from anywhere using your smartphone, tablet, PC or other email device using TrackerMail. Just send an email to TrackerMail with the aircraft registration number, and TrackerMail returns the current location and status of the aircraft. Individual user configuration also allows automatic updates while the aircraft is in-flight.

SD Flight Tracker’s advanced mapping technology is the only solution to provide network overlays, planned and actual flight routes, and aircraft satcom status to provide complete situational awareness for dispatchers and maintenance personnel.

  • Satcom Direct Router (SDR) Overview

    Satcom Direct Router (SDR) Overview

The Satcom Direct Router (SDR) is Satcom Direct’s first certified hardware product. The SDR is a next-generation aircraft network router that simplifies cabin communications and allows simultaneous use of multiple satellite connections. It is satellite ready for L-Band, Ku-Band, Ka-Band, and X-Band communications.

Using intelligent traffic control, the SDR allows multiple systems to operate on the aircraft without additional wireless access
points, creating the ability for separate guest or dedicated VVIP networks. While on the ground, 3G/4G connectivity is possible through the SDR, and data plans for domestic and global roaming with the SDR’s Dual-SIM module are available
to provide the best roaming rates around the world.

The SDR also supports mobile applications for on-board cabin services such as a moving map and Flight Tracker, command and control of satellite links, and real-time connection status reporting. The SDR currently works with Inmarsat SwiftBroadband and Swift 64 systems from Cobham/Thrane & Thrane, Honeywell/EMS, and Rockwell Collins. It also supports ViaSat Yonder® Ku-Band and is designed to work with Inmarsat’s upcoming Global Xpress Ka-Band Service.
