Dear ~Contact.FirstName~
In this month's newsletter you will gain tips on talent acquisition and how connecting the right talent enables organisations to build effective teams for humanitarian assistance and international development efforts. Furthermore we’d like to discuss how we can protect global food supply from extreme weather following an interesting article from the World Economic Forum.
And five months after the Nepal quake we’d like to share with you the car-lifting solution SPACCER was used to help getting supplies into remote areas and an update from Habitat for Humanity International on the effects of the Nepal earthquake 100 days on. Plus discover how the Benegas Brothers used their Iridium Extreme Satellite phones to create a network throughout the surrounding area with access to 24/7 communication.
You will have the opportunity to read the post-event report from the 7th annual Global Disaster Relief Summit that took place in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington D.C. on 10-11 September and find out the outcome of many interesting discussions that took place.
Kind regards,
AIDF Team

How do we protect global food supplies from extreme weather?
Recent events highlight concerns about the risks to global food security posed by changing patterns of extreme weather affecting the world’s ‘breadbasket’ regions such as the American midwest, South America’s southern cone, the Black Sea and the Yangtze River valley. In 2012, the worst drought to hit the US midwest in half a century sent international maize and soybean prices to record levels. In 2011, wheat prices nearly doubled after an unprecedented heat wave devastated the Russian harvest. The global food price crisis of 2007-08 had its roots in a run of poor harvests in previous years.
