Newsletter - October 2016
Dear colleague,
The Aid & International Development Forum has partnered with Nonprofit Tech for Good on the 2016 Global NGO Online Technology Survey. Published in English, French, and Spanish, the goal of the Survey is to gain a better understanding of how not-for-profit organisations, NGOs, and charities across the world use online technology. The survey will be live through 31st October and your participation in the survey is greatly appreciated. The data will be released on 30th January 2017 in the second annual edition of the Global NGO Online Technology Report.
On 21st September, the global community honoured the International Day of Peace highlighting the responsibility to provide opportunity for prosperity, peace and partnership through the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. While a great deal of work is going into the achievement of the SDGs, Amy O'Donnell, ICT in Programme Lead at Oxfam GB draws attention to the fact that there is very little data-driven accountability on how these are actually being implemented.
Exploring innovations and technologies to support SDGs, the AIDF Aid & Development Africa Summit 2017 will once again gather leading humanitarian and development experts to look at improving aid delivery and development strategy in Sub-Saharan East Africa.
With best regards,
AIDF Team

Making Data Relevant – The Biggest Challenge For M4D and The SDGs?
While a great deal of work and energy is going into the achievement of the SDGs, there is very little data-driven accountability on how these are actually being implemented– especially in the form of direct feedback from those communities directly affected by initiatives designed to attain the SDGs. Take an example related to SDG 16 which is about Peace...

Lessons learned from the recent drought response in Ethiopia
Drought, worsened by El Niño effects, is having a devastating impact on the lives and livelihoods of 10.2 million Ethiopians. The lack of rainfall, and subsequent great drought, has caused a massive spike in humanitarian needs, which are expected to continue through the remaining of 2016 and well into next year. In response to the crisis, the joint government and humanitarian partners’ Humanitarian Requirements Document for 2016 was developed to include specific operational plans based on rain projections and analysis of past El-Niño events in Ethiopia. You’re invited to discuss this further with your peers at the 2nd annual Aid & Development Africa Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
