The Green Climate Fund has approved a US$25 million grant to support Bangladesh’s efforts to build the adaptive capacities of vulnerable communities along the cost.

“It is time to make refugee girls’ education a priority” says UNHCR

A new report by UNHCR titled ‘Her Turn’ reveals that refugee girls are half as likely to enrol in secondary school as their male peers.

Despite access to education being recognised as a human right refugee children often face a number of obstacles that make it much harder for them to enrol in school than their non-refugee peers. This is particularly difficult for girls who can struggle to find and keep their place in a classroom.

Child marriage has fallen by 15% in the last decade

UNICEF has announced that the number of child marriages has declined significantly with 25 million being prevented in the last decade.

The prevalence has decreased globally by about 15%, today 1 in 5 women are married as children compared to 1 in 4 a decade ago. Approximately 650 million women alive today were married as children.
