Adopting innovations and technological solutions in aid delivery and emergency response
Welcome to the March edition of the AIDF newsletter.
As the spring approaches, we have joined celebration of the World NGO Day on 27th February. The day highlights the significance of the NGO sector and reminds about the need for collaboration and cooperation within and across sectors for a stronger future for all.
The Mobile World Congress, which took place in Barcelona earlier this week, highlighted the prominent role of mobile network connectivity in enabling faster and more effective allocation of resources and facilitating the recovery processes during crises and emergencies. Also a topic we will address at our AIDF Global Disaster Relief Summit in September.
The recent Indonesia earthquake and the study outcomes on the Nepal earthquake, suggesting that it could have been much worse, place ever greater importance on adopting latest innovations and technological solutions by all stakeholders involved in aid delivery and emergency response. This also highlights areas for improvement in disaster mitigation systems and urgent need to address them. These topics, amongst others, will be examined at the upcoming AIDF Asia Summit in June 2016.
In the meantime, we’d like to #PledgeForParity and congratulate all female readers with the upcoming International Women Day.
Please do get in touch if you would like to offer feedback or suggest topics for inclusion in future editions of the newsletter (email Alina O’Keeffe aokeeffe@aidforum.org).
Warm regards,
AIDF Team
